after 2 weeks away from lisbon, i came back to some minor conflict and tension. the main issue seemed to be that lea was feeling left out of the planning process, and tatiana and joao were feeling that their big plans for the place were going to be compromised. in my opinion, both were very valid concerns. i think conflict can be a very important thing, as long as it's not pointless conflict. in my experience, most 'conflicts' aren't conflict at all. just miscommunication from people not talking and listening enough.
So since yesterday i finally got a sewing machine after hours going from store to store, today i started to work with the fuchsia fabric. I got the two pieces of fabric united, and when i started with the borders the machine stopped working! Gah..This is frustrating. Tomorrow i will go to the store where i bought it and see what the guy tells me about it.
Meanwhile, i'll post here some images of the sketches for the Rainbow rooms so you guys can get ad idea of what i'm doing.

today a lot of work got done.
- A and L moved the hose so it is much better concealed.
- L and T got a shovel and a big sheet of metal from a construction site
- A and L cleaned the major junk from the top floor
- T got hardware for the knitting of the room
- P and M got the gas lamp working so now we have a lot of light
Two years ago I started to think about having a place where I could have my photography studio and share my art, organize small events, performances, workshops, etc. The idea eventually evolved to some kind of a non-profit cultural center. I was living in Porto, and wanted to return to my hometown - Lisbon. I started to plan my return to Lisbon and at the same time planning the cultural center. The CC would feature a venue room for concerts, dj partys and maybe theatre performances, a room for a book and cd library, and also a space for lectures and workshops.
on 2010.03.02 we met again at the house, O, P, M, S, T and me, for another discussion about what to do. O, P and M are already living there and, as far as i know, it's working out ok.
on arrival i found that the hose had snapped from the hydrant. this indicates poor setup and the water ended up being disconnected again. now we can use this to hide the pipe and to do a proper connection. two main issues: the lack of sealant rubber and a wrench big enough to tighten the big hose parts. these are easy to fix, but since i work during the week it might take a while to get it done.
this is my first post, starting what will be a log of our process of building up SPCC. it doesn't have clear dates, but hopefully the next ones will.
