Update

Long time since i posted here some news/feedback. No internet at SPCC for now, but next month we will have a connection. Hopefully, the other residents will be following and participating in this blog as well.

Overall it's going fine. I'm now working on level 2, working on the chill out/library area. My idea is to recycle as much as possible, so i can design and create the furniture and decor.

For now i have:

Personalitty issues

Tonight, we had a visit. O, S, and L went out and met some group of germans that are traveling in van. S came in and said that they were just going to park the van outside, and sleep there. We continued to hang out in the living room. Minutes later we saw one of the german guys coming up with blankets, pillows and stuff like that, and we quickly realize that they were going to sleep inside.

Electricity!

P and J got us electricity. But it only works at night, starting at 20h. When P and J were working on that, a guy, claiming to be the son of one of the owners of the building, appear. A couple of hours after that, police appeared again. After explain all again they told us that we can't be here and that we are going to get a notification for that. J claimed himself as the responsible for all of us. So now we are waiting. We are guessing that the other guy called the police.

A and L are building a pirate ship next to the building.

That's all folks!

Windows and etc.

After the wood board attack i though that it would be better to fix the windows. Plastic is extremely noisy and as P says: it seems like the fucking building is falling on our heads! So i went up to the top floor and collect some windows, brought them down and put them on our floor. Much better. Now we can sleep without the noise and wind, and also we can see through the glass! The are some windows that still need to be fixed, but maybe tomorrow i'll fix that and also clean the other ones.

Latest News

With the moving-house-thingy we didn't do much. As J said, the orange room is up, so the floor is starting to look more fun and colorful.

Me and M changed the kitchen to one of the corners and it looks pretty good and more practical. In front we have a proper dinner table (much bigger), and P and M set us a nice lounge/living room with a small table. Since then we've been having some good chill out nights after dinner.

One wood wall up and Fuchsia room up!

Pheww! What a day!

Work done:

- Fuckin' wood wall is up for P and M's room. Now we just need to put a door and case closed.
- Fuchsia room is up too. We made it a bit more bigger, since we are 3 and we need room to put our things and computers, cameras and bla bla.
- The guys started to build up the door for the entrance of the building, maybe tomorrow we'll have a door.
- In the first floor P started to put some wood boards on the window.

And here are some photos of the rooms:

First room

So the fabric for the first room (Fuchsia) is ready. I had a couple of problems with the sewing machine (again) and i took a bit longer than i expected.

While i was at home sewing and swearing, the guys started to put up the first walls on P and M's room. A and L collected some tires for the beds.

Not a very productive day compared to others, but well. Tomorrow is a new day.

More work done!

Yesterday we didn't didn't do much. Me, A and P finished the first floor and cleared the entrance. I never seen so much garbage together. Although it was great to see P excited about the project while i was explaining more things about it and working hard with us. There are still some issues between him and Ma (Macieira) but it's getting better.

Today was a fucking hard work day. Me and J went to buy more wood for P and M's room. Once we got there we made a nice lunch before the hard work:

Rainbow Rooms

So since yesterday i finally got a sewing machine after hours going from store to store, today i started to work with the fuchsia fabric. I got the two pieces of fabric united, and when i started with the borders the machine stopped working! Gah..This is frustrating. Tomorrow i will go to the store where i bought it and see what the guy tells me about it.

Meanwhile, i'll post here some images of the sketches for the Rainbow rooms so you guys can get ad idea of what i'm doing.

SPCC - the start

Two years ago I started to think about having a place where I could have my photography studio and share my art, organize small events, performances, workshops, etc. The idea eventually evolved to some kind of a non-profit cultural center. I was living in Porto, and wanted to return to my hometown - Lisbon. I started to plan my return to Lisbon and at the same time planning the cultural center. The CC would feature a venue room for concerts, dj partys and maybe theatre performances, a room for a book and cd library, and also a space for lectures and workshops.
